Interior Design, LI

The Interior Design Student Association (IDSA) is a professional organization focused on advancing the understanding of Interior Design. We do this by proactively seeking opportunities and resources that we can then offer students. We also develop interdisciplinary programming and events to broaden the field, the student body, and the scope in which our work can act upon.

At NYIT, IDSA is a school chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA). IIDA Student Membership provides students enrolled in an interior design program resources for educational and professional development, that are not available on campus. These benefits are exclusive to IIDA Student members and give aspiring designers unique opportunities to build professional connections that extend well after graduation.

While interior design-focused, IDSA is still an inclusive organization that has members across multiple disciplines. Each event is carefully planned to maximize value to our members no matter the background. In the ever-advancing job market, interdisciplinary studies are more important than ever and the ability to transcend different fields is priceless. Our events explore interdisciplinary work, high design, professional development, and entrepreneurial opportunities.

IDSA’s goal is to share experiences and resources with students to increase exposure to opportunities beyond university. We wish to develop our members in a space where interfacing with people of different specialties becomes regular. Entrepreneurism is a strong theme throughout each event. Unique perspectives are celebrated, and opportunities are always explored!

Whether you are from the School of Architecture and Design, College of Engineering and Computing Sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, or the School of Management, every person and perspective is celebrated as we all share the journey of exploring interior design.
